Will you please refer to your letter of the

8th August, 53611/39, regarding the report of the Committee

on the proposed development of Hong Kong University.

We are sure you will appreciate that in view of

the outbreak of hostilities this proposal is one that must

stand over for the present in so far as any question of

possible financial assistance is concerned.

In the circumstances we have not considered the

report in detail.
